WTF are the point of lives in this game? It's easy to amass over 100, and even if you did somehow run out, would it really do anything? You could just restart the level.

Back in the NES days it was hard to get lots of lives and you had to restart at the beginning of the whole game when you ran out!

I think I had 130 lives by the end of world 8. But they do come in handy for the Special World. Died lots of times on the level with all the jump flip platforms (red/blue ones) :S

normal mario doesnt have a hat but little mario does

it applies to the title screen as well.

in terms of '100%' it only matters post-game and takes a matter of a few minutes to amass using this games life trick.

your first 1000 becomes a crown, the next 100 becomes a crown and the last 10 becomes a crown. so eventually your lives are displayed as triple crowns.

its better then a normal DS but i hardly ever play mine with the 3D on cause it gives me a headache.. the graphics overall are better

I reckon it's better with the 3D on, it seems the screen has more clarity with it on, but that might just be me. They "promote" the game being easier to judge jumps with the 3D but I only found the shadows help, not the 3D. It's different for everyone, kids might not see it better as adults and vice versa. Buy it from EB Games and try it, if you don't like it, you can return it in 7 days for a full cash refund :)

So I have really taken my time with this game, just playing it on train trips and stuff like that. I finally got up to the castle in world 8 and defeated Bowser, all was well.

Then he re-appeared with the Princess and now there are more levels. Wow, Nintendo actually surprised me for a change!

I love this game, it's just so much FUN!

It's a game that's so inviting to complete. Not every game is easy to finish 100%, but Nintendo always make games that say, "Hai! Finish me!"

Just finished it on the train ride this morning, I loved EVERY second of it!

Can't wait to go back as Luigi, this is going to be awesome!

Also I'd like to say that I thought the Bowser battles were the best in a long time, I loved the retro feel of the button at the end of the bridges!

Neary finished the entire finished ALL worlds with Mario and luigi and special I've finished with Mario and Luigi. All coins collected except for one. Special 8-5. [Rage] x infinity. I had 38 lives and I'm down to 9 that damn doppelgänger and those super fast gears. I cannot for the life of me fathem how I finished it the first time

Yep I have. It was a bitch. Especially te specials, cause the platforms are further away from the pole. But definitely all of them.
I think it might be a level I haven't done with Luigi?
