Would you bypass the 3DS Region Lock?

12441 Views 16 Posts 3DS
We heard before the release of the 3DS that'll it'll be region locked and that we can't play imported games, a horrible move on Nintendo's part but would you want to bypass it with stuff like Action Replays and a 3rd party program on the SD card used with the 3DS?

I'm not promoting and saying pirating is right but would you hack the 3DS to bypass the region lock?
Usually I wouldn't care, but if certain games go to other regions and our region misses out. Then I would. I did the same for Brawl on the Wii. Hacked my Wii to play imported games because I wasn't waiting. Used that same hack to play Captain Rainbow, as it never came here either.

I care a lot, thats one reason I cbf getting a 3DS, not really interested atm tbh >.> especially with stuff happening in my life atm [Rage]
I would with no second thoughts or regrets.

I mean if nintendo will ban me from online or something for hacking it to bypass a horrible system they put in place then feel free to cause some games will never be released outside of Japan and I really don't know why they want to stop people from importing them.

Would Nintendo brick one's 3DS for bypassing the region lock? cause they said they would if you use flashcards.

Dude its just a scare tactic from nintendo. Nintendo has the right to stop you from using their online services, because that is a service. However they do not have the right to brick your device, as it is a good.

Hope that clears up some confusion.
It was a terrible move by Nintendo. Every Nintendo handheld has been region free up untill now, I doubt there's a valid reason as to why they've made this unwanted change anyway.
Yes. I'm currently planning on working on it in jail. - geohotz
I would.
There are game released in other countries that never make it's way to us, and I really don't like the fact that games cost more in Australia...
Maybe, depends how much effort is involved. Bypassing region lock is perfectly legal, but sometimes the methods involved are not.

Not disagreeing but I think that nintendo will say that any way to bypass, disable or circumvent the region lock is wrong or is hacking.
Ofcourse Nintendo will say it's wrong, it's going against what they want the console to do!
Has Nintendo given a reason why thier laetest consoles has region lock? since all of thier consoles before were region free...
@Matteh - Well since nintendo can't actually do anything I don't give a seconds thought when the option arrives.

gbatemp.net/... This is why i'm quite confident.

They don't want you to do it, but you're allowed to.
If there is a soft mod, then I may think about it if the US get an awesome game that I want.
