CheapGames Website

Saw a thing on A Current Affair about online shopping and they mentioned this website for gaming and such.

I had a look around and it seems to be pretty good, The main reason i'm posting a thread about it is they offer RETRO and ANIME stuff, Along with collectables, Trading Cards, Clothing, DVD and BluRay and more.

Here's a link to the main website: cheapgames.com.au/...

Here's a link to the Anime stuff: cheapgames.com.au/...

Consoles they stock under RETRO include: NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, PS1, PS2, XBOX and MasterSystem.
So if you're looking to expand on any collections (i'm looking at you @Guyver [Shifty]) it might be worth looking at.

They also seem to have "mini-stores" which i haven't checked out, These include (judging by the home-page) Pokemon, Super Mario, Star Wars, Doctor Who, Sonic, Halo and Zelda.

Also instant-download game cards such as World Of Warcraft, Microsoft Points, Xbox LIVE Gold, Star Wars Old Republic and Diablo 3.
Site doesn't seem to load for me.

Edit: Nevermind, working now.

I've had a few loading problems, But it seems to finally load :P
well i have had a quick look. The site is way to slow for me to use and those retro games are not cheap at all. They are just pictures of the covers, there is no description on the ones i looked at and are probably UKV games.

I know the 3DS games are averagely priced because the pictures on the site show UKV ratings.

Sorry but i have to say that. You can go on ebay.co.uk and probably find them cheaper anyway
@Gargoyles - You know as much as i do about the website, As i didn't really explore it or look at prices regarding Retro things and also i'm having trouble loading some pages (could be my internet though)
People are complaining the site is slow.
It definitely didn't get DDOS'd by all the traffic from A Current Affair or anything.
But that site is ****ing disgusting anyway, oh my god.
ehhhhh ozgameshop are still cheaper

*true story*
but this place is based in Australia, Ozgameshop is not

Hi everyone,

Sorry about the speed of our site tonight but we had 4500 visitors in 1 hour...our usual traffic does not even compare to 10% of this! I had some techs do some work to stop the site from crashing completely - but with that much traffic things were not working 100%.

I would like to point out that our site is no actually finished we still have a lot of work to do. We were luckily approached by ACA regarding the article.

In response to some of the comments posted here:
Our retro games are mostly Australian versions. We still need to identify cart only/boxed etc. We have actually teamed up with a local retailer to display on our site what is for sale in their store. There are no descriptions as it is going to be a massive job - there are about 5000 products to add descriptions for! We also want to include videos like gameplay and original television ads of retro games - it will take awhile but it will happen.

In regards to our pricing, we are still playing around with our pricing script but we will be aiming at being around the same price as Ozgameshop. The advantage of our site is that when it is finished, you will be able to click on a single product, and instantly see many price, shipping time and condition options. You can get it shipped from the UK, wait 2 weeks for it and get it really cheap, have it shipped locally and get it quickly (next day even) or save some money and buy a pre-owned version - and still get it next day even. Sometimes things are actually cheaper locally too, but yes most of the tie the UK item will be cheaper.

If you want to get a bit of an idea you can click on any of the items on the front page that show pricing "from $xx.xxx" and a popup will display. unfortunalty the caching that was installed on the site today has caused a few issues with this tonight as the products popping up is not the same as the item you click on....but if you click on the actual product it will take you to the product page and show the correct information.

I do openly welcome any constructive criticism - we still have a lot of work to do and improvements to make on the site over the next month or so - so please bare with us :)

Welcome :)

Site clearly isn't a finished product but looks promising. I like your ideas, multiple prices from the relevant regions is clever and I know would definitely come in handy, even discussing it around here we always weigh up which is better, both options gives us the best of both worlds.

Are all products genuine? Thinking of purchasing a wired Xbox 360 controller to use with my PC and 360.

$37 from Australia? Great price, not in stock though.

You're site is now on my bookmark bar :D
Hey Zach - all products are genuine - wired controllers are out of stock for another week unfortunately.

We do have generic wired xbox 360 controllers for about $19. They are Nitho brand which are pretty good.

I want to be supportive but indeed Ozgameshop are and therefore they still have my business.

Good to see more people attempting to be more competitive though and of course, welcome to the site.
Fair enough Leasha, we will be looking at our pricing script within the next week or 2 with the aim to be the same price as Ozgameshop so maybe check back then.

Our prices were cheaper before but we had issues where it allowed free shipping of some items from a local supplier when combined with these UK items, but the shipping charged to us was $9 and the profit on the items were only $1 or $2. This has pretty much been fixed now though so we can re-look at the pricing script.

Just remember too any profits our site makes goes back into the Australian economy whereas all of Ozgameshop's profits stay offshore.
I understand how it could be hard to offer free shipping here with the prices that Aus Post charge.

Those guys are ridiculous.

All the best with your new venture and keep us all updated here at MMGN.
i dont care where the money goes, end of the day if it's cheaper, im getting it there xD
unless you can get it to me faster, then there's some deciding to do

edit: checked the site, even without post it's super expensive. good luck in your ventures
As for current gen games I don't care about the prices it's the retro gear you have listed that has got my interest. I had a quick look through your Sega Saturn listings and your prices are better than the average BIN price of most eBay listings. Also the 5 dollar postage works out well compared to Saturn games I get from the UK and the US.
Was going to sign in as a guest and just grab Theme Park for the Saturn but decided to make an account since you are filling out that stuff anyway.

Quick questions in regards to retro gear. Is the image you show on the listings of the actual game cover? This is important to a collector.
Also will you be selling retro accessories like controllers and stuff like that?
Need to add shaving gear to the catalogue.

Lol and plushies.
Support MyGames.com.au... (shameless plug)
Rancid our prices should be pretty much exactly the same as Ozgameshop very soon. All pricing is done on the fly as we have over 40,000 products on our site, so we need a little time to work out the algorithm to hit that price point. Products from the UK will take exactly the same amount of time as they do from OZGS, obviously if you want something quick we can get it to you next business day. I will point out that some publishers in Australia are slowly lowering the prices of games here and now UK is not always cheaper than Australia, or sometimes we have access to a special price that makes something cheaper than the UK - Zelda Skyward Sword is a good example of this. We also have just received a large shipment of Sniper Elite V2 and SF vs Tekken on Xbox 360 which will both go on the site for about $27! We are actively pursuing close out deals to be able to offer items at prices much lower than even OZGS.

Guyver - in regards to the retro gear at this stage they are all stock images. Your Theme Park game image is correct though and has been packaged off ready to send out. We need to work out how we are going to manage this properly - its not easy as there are so many products and variables (cart only, missing manual, ugly UK N64 boxes etc). We will have live chat running up soon so the best way may be just to request the info over that in the future. For now if there is anything the customer would need to be made aware of we will let them know before shipping any items. But yours is almost like new so you should be very happy :)

We also have retro accessories - even brand new Dreamcast controllers. We have AV cables for MD1, MD2, Snes,N64,Cube etc all in stock too. If there is ever anything inparticular you are after - you can just send us an email we may have one not listed, or be able to track one down for you.

We do have plushies on the site - lots of plushies - just not many images yet!

And yes everyone make sure you do keep supporting mygames.com.au too lol. They have a really neat site and provide this community for you all.
Awesome looking forward to it arriving. Guess from now on I'll ask the question before plunging in and buying anything "retro".

Tempted to get that copy of Virtua Cop on the Saturn, might wait until my light gun arrives first though.
$66 for a Xai:
