LoL :D

Subjects aged 15-21, they haven't even entered "real life" yet [MOG]
Oh yes, that article -_-

Sick of all this bullshit the comes out, movies and books are just as influential as games. Why don't they write an article about those nerds who spend months learning Klingon
yeah pretty dumb study. such a small sample size and a very young impressionable age group where there minds were shaped due to too much video games. i think in youth it is important to be involved in numerous activities and find what you like.

plus again they only refer to two or three of the subjects that had the most extreme symptoms. another case of sensationalism by the media
How stupid do they think gamers are? Under that picture of that Scott Pilgrim movie it says, Gamers this isn't real. I mean come on.
The commenters in the article were quite reasonable though. They couldn't see anything wrong with thinking and solving problems using the paradigms of video games as long as the solutions you ended up at were correct and well thought-out.

Really? [Facepalm]

It really does sound like a bunch of dudes were taking the piss, though. It's like me wisecracking that when I want to say something to someone, I reach for an invisible keyboard, and it's somehow taken as a serious answer.

Do they realise this research is matching of every other aspect of society? People watch Rugby and inherently begin thinking about Rugby while not watching it. Are these people psychologically damaged aswell?

As to seeing health bars above people's heads ... where did they find this subject group?

unemployed drugged out people who signed up to a study for some free money
Just fuel to the fire -_-

I unfortunately was reading some of the absurd comments on that site the other day, and my god, the old hicks berating video games, "we don't need them", "only idiots play them", "I've never ever played one so my opinion is better than yours".

I am endlessly flabbergasted by the idiocy of Herald Sun holding idiot box people that cannot fathom any way of life outside their own little pigeon hole of a butt hurt life.

SOME video game players are so immersed in their virtual environment that when they stop playing they transfer their experiences into the real world, according to new research.

Some, sure.

Some knife owners are serial killers, too.
"In no way do I bring video games into my life. Now who is that reporter so I can t-bag his dead body."
Haha I was just listening to that on the radio.
I heard about this on the radio and just [Facepalm] 'ed at the thought. They research a handful of nutters and everyone gets lumped into the minority. Media love to sensationalise things for attention.

Awesome data "42 gamers aged below 21" [Shifty]
They should have interviews me.

Real life mixed with alcohol warped my mind more than video games ever did.
news.com? Its basically Fox News, and we all know how accurate and reliable they are right? -_-

What about real life transferred into games, people who play the peace walker in RPGs like Fallout or Deus Ex, not killing unless they have to?

Gaming has given me skills in real life though, I'm not the best shot at paintball, but I've got the tactics of taking cover and flanking which I have instinctively from games. (you would be surprised how many idiots hide behind cover doing nothing, then making blind runs in the open, they are the ones with bruises)

while another created a list of possible responses in their head after being insulted.

Takes one to know one! [Derp]
Seriously though, who doesn't do that? Its called thinking!

Just when I thought this article couldn't be any more bullshit, they even have the balls to state they interviewed 42 people ^_^ what a quack study! 42 people thats nothing! Thats a discredit to those universities, 42 is such a small number of people its unbelievable!
If they did any real epidemiological study on this topic they would find nothing significantly bad; theres always bound to be a few bad eggs, I'd be surprised if it were over 2% though.
Most the responses are clearly jokes though. Thats what makes the report so amusing :P, that they write about these jokes with full seriousness

First it was kinda dog to pick the kids named Milton and Linus.
Secondly I love how to the right of this article is a story on Battle Field vs Call of Duty and the original link has an add for video games. [Facepalm]

I love Fox news, it is like watching a conservative journalistic crucifixion of the left. They some times get it right but it's hard to sift through the bull**** when they shout over each other like children. =D =D

They should write a book about you. [MOG]
You can have a signed copy if they do [MOG]
