Hi Guys,

We've spent the past few weeks optimising the sites and now have a new build! One of the biggest improvements is we are now using MemCached - <geek> which means our system resource is shared across all the servers, and only one version exist in memory at one time! </geek>

This means there will no longer be a lag of posts between mobile site and full site, when a news is published on multiple sites, the comments will appear instantaneously, updating a news on PS3 will update the same news on Wii instantly.

This also opens up the opportunity for us to do shared forums, or even thread spanning multiple sites. We are hoping to share the Buy & Trade and MMGN.com forums to start with. Which we are hoping to launch next week.

Of course, here are a few other improvements:
• Added an Aussie flag to the header :)
• Sites should be much faster, following Google's speed tips, we've optimised many sections of the site.
• Post bug in event comments
• Paging bug in private messaging
• When you play a video on the home page, it won't refresh
• RDFa support: www.google.com/...

@CheeryDog - yes, there is still a delay, we will be moving everything to the new Caching system in coming weeks, but I am unsure if the kudos count in the menu bar will be updated in real time.

Major thanks for speeding up the site. I don't usually have a problem with the speed but when I'm capped I sure as hell do. Not anymore though, and it's really sweet.

I feel like we really need spoiler tags, could just be me though. However I find it really hard to warn people about spoilers without making the post unnecessarily long by leaving a gap between "spoilers" and the actual content.
