USB Medal

The Wii has been gifted with two USB ports, which are located at the back of the console, that allow many different peripherals to be plugged into. A few of these are:
• Wii Speak: allows conversations to occur between Wii owners.
• Wii Remote Charging Docks: allows the Wii Remotes to charge of the power that is flowing to the Wii console.
• Keyboards(wired/wireless): to allow players to type in games or in channels.

These USB ports felt like a gift from the gods…the possibilities that could occur from having USB ports in the back of a console were almost limitless! But unfortunately, there hasn’t been many released...and that is where you guys come in!

How do I get one of these awesome medals?!
That’s simple! All you have to do is come up with an idea for a USB powered peripheral for the Wii and describe it to us below! You can include a simple diagram of your peripheral as well if you wanted too. It could be anything you like, as crazy as a USB powered milk shake maker to as simple, and highly wanted, storage solution!

An example of an entry could be:

If I had to choose to make a USB powered peripheral for the Nintendo Wii I would make a fan that plugs into the USB ports. This fan could help cool both the Wii console AND the Wii player. Also to blow away the B.O from playing too much Wii Sports.

I'd want a USB powered hard drive... wait, that's too obvious!

I'd want a USB powered coffee warmer, I know they're already on the market but I want an official Nintendo labelled one. Then my only two habits, vices if you will, would be officially endorsed by the big N! In addition to keeping my mug warm it would begin to play the Mario Bros theme whenever the mug is lifted. The music would become increasingly faster and make the 'Super Mario Bros. going down a pipe' noise when the mug is returned!

I want a USB powered fan. I'd have it pointed to my Wii because the bloody thing gets so hot when it's on standby. Or a USB powered phone, that had Wii (free... lul) calls to other people on their Wii. Yeah, I know there's WiiSpeak but I don't want to update to higher then 3.2E.

I would want a usb with a fan so when you are playing online heaps the usb won't get too hot and when i feel its hot i get scared and then i would want to take it out

A USB powered receiver for a wireless Gamecube controller would be nice. It'll make the little white box look a little less ugly from the front when you have a GC controller connected, and it would also act as a HUB.

I had to think hard about this...

If I had to make a USB powered peripheral for the Wii, I would make a Wii back up power..thing. It plugs into the USB port and it charges while the Wii is plugged into a power point, so when there is a power failure and no power can go from the power point to the Wii, the back up power will automatically kick in and keep the Wii on so you don't lose any progress that you have made in the game. ^.^

All medals should be issues(unless someone posted before me, if so I will issue right after I post).

I will go with the obvious one.

USB hardrive or even flash drive support would be fantastic. It would solve so many problems and it would enable substantial downloadable content to be offered by developers for their games. Obviously it would increase the amount of VC/WiiWare and save file capacity as well.

It would open up a massive window of opportunities.

I have one of these plugged to the back of my Wii, and my Wii never gets hot, even when on Stand By. You should grab one of these, I think they were about USD$7. These are pretty awesome

For when you don't feel like going to the kitchen, you store food in a compartment underneath it and pop it in when you want to eat. Play some more, then when the food is warm the door opens and a table extends across you. ^_^

Well...um..well once the back up power thingy charges...it can last a long time. So the Wii can still be on while the TV is off, and it can stay powered on until the pwoer comes back to the TV..yeah.

I would like a USB powered video camera that's operated by one of the buttons on the Wii-mote, it stays plugged in and is always ready and waiting to record those epic moments in games, then you can upload them to MyWii.
