O'Keefe has the best bowling average of any of the state spinners, from memory.
EDIT:
O'Keefe has the best first class bowling average of the current spinners I can think of:
16 FC games with a bowling average of 25 and a SR of 56.

In comparison, Beer, Lyon, Hauritz, Krezja and Bailey all average in the 40s.
Steve Smith 50 and Glenn Maxwell 39.
And Matthew Wade hits another century. Let's see what Haddin does in the next test.

Then again, on the spinner issue, maybe we should just employ Michael Clarke: www.youtube.com/...
Or Marcus North: www.youtube.com/...
And furthermore, Paine's keeping in the North video is better than Haddin.
So apparently we had a great 3rd session. 2 wickets for Clark [WTF]

Though Johnson got smashed, so nothing new there.

Lyon & Cummins were the catalysts of the middle order collapse, the Soof Africans were looking at a huge score before we got Deviliers & Prince out.

We still gotta perform with the bat though i'm not looking forward to watching our inconsistent Watson-less top order face Steyn & Morkel...
Siddle got both Kallis and De Villiers out, give him some credit.

Cummins went for the least runs, lol how Johnson and Siddle got slogged. Luckily for Siddle he took 3, Johnson may just be dropped for Harris next match.

Yeah Siddle was good compared to Johnson, Kallis was playing wreckless T20 cricket though there were a few soft dismissals De Viliers included.

Bit of a shame how we don't exactly have a Lee/Mcgrath spearhead to build the attack around, Cummins has to be fast tracked to opening bowler without a gun to learn off.

Pattinson or even Bollinger would be a better option than MJ who's a weak link & would make Siddle more effective.
Siddle shows why he should be there ahead of Johnson. Need the other Vics Pattinson and Wade in now.

Good to see Lyon get a couple, hopefully he can continue to pick up a couple of wickets every innings and he will be a solid spinner for the Aussies.
WTF, all was good until lunch. I stopped watching, come back a few hours later and the runs haven't changed but we dropped 3 wickets

Typical Aussie collapse really, the media will probably still try to blame Hughes for Ponting, Hussey, Clarke, Haddin & Khawaja all failing to score any runs [Shifty]

Im really not sure why Ponting is still "a required member of the squad"
Still can't believe how bad that collapse was turned off at lunch absolutely stoked 0/169 came back and we're all out for 100 runs more [Facepalm]

Ponting & Haddin will continue to get selected because they're Pups mates, noob captain as selector = epic fail...
Some of these player should realise that they need to allow younger players into the team and walk themselves but Aussie test players never do as they have it too easy once they're in.

Also what's so special about Khawaja?

I'm not sold on Khawaja being one of the next gun batsman yet he hasn't shown he can handle international bowling attacks.
Just thought I'd look up these players' ages and first class averages, and if they've regularly held a spot in the Test side, that also.

Quite surprising, puts it all in perspective.

Look at David Hussey, that is an enormous average, and he's never even debuted for Australia? That shows how much better the past generation was. Include Hodge in that thought as well.

Callum Ferguson's average is shocking, as is Paine's. Haddin's average dropping off in Tests kind of shows how he's just not quite cut out for the job any more - the peak of his career has been spent in this Aus side, and he's just not done as well as before he was in the job.

Keepers

Haddin, 34, 39.54 (36 in tests)
Paine, 26, 31.62
Wade, 23, 39.32

Middle order bats

Mike Hussey, 36, 52.75 (52 in tests)
David Hussey, 34, 54.51
Clarke, 30, 45.30 (46 in tests)
Shaun Marsh, 28, 39.53 (56.80 in 3 tests)
Ferguson, 26, 34.69
O'Keefe, 26, 37.05
Khawaja, 24, 46.50
Smith, 22, 43.00

Say it has been 3 years since all these kids ^ have been knocking on the door. In those 3 years Ponting has still averaged 36.72 in Tests, for Australia. I still think he's going to go soon, but there's no wonder why he hasn't yet.

Anyone got any others I've missed out on?

In comparison, our middle order in the 06/07 Ashes comprised:

Ponting 55.28
Martyn 49.25
Hussey 52.75
Clarke 45.30
Gilchrist 44.16

Don't forget, they're all first class averages. Pretty damning in comparison to these kids we have coming up.
Dave Hussey will go down as another of the players unlucky not to
have made his test debut.
hashim amla is a cutie
O'Keefe is more likely to play as the spinner who can bat than vice versa.
Cummins 5fer you beauty, we're watching the next big thing in international fast bowling :D

Lyon's done nothing wrong in the spinners role I think he'll be given a fair crack before they turn the spinner rotating door, he's still only 23 and has alot of improvement in him.
Cummins 6/79 from 29 overs (2.72 per over).

Awesome bowling on debut. :D
I walk out of the room to grab some pizza. We lose a wicket.

I walk out of the room to put my place in the kitchen. We lose a wicket.

I was about to go have a shower, but I might wait a while :P

Not going to miss much it's game over pretty much, shocking leave by Watson [Facepalm]

All that's left is to see if Ponting can score enough to save his career, oh well at leat Cummins gave us something to look forward to.

All he need's is 1 run to make the selectors happy
Probably not going to happen, but, if Khawaja and Ponting both make centuries, who gets dropped to bring Marsh back in?
