Bit of a retarded ending - Australia lose but still go up as the series winners.

2 match series [Facepalm]

gotta keep hussey. we cant have too many new players in the team at once. hussey can perform and will against india as their bowlers arent as good as australias although their batsman are in better form.

if watson is good to go we bring him in for hughes and possibly switch out khawaja for marsh. cant see any other keepers knocking the door in to get a game so haddin should stay.

and as for this "dusty lids" he is only embarrassing himself in this forum and his useless, uncomedic trolling is not appreciated on this site and it would be much better without him :)

2 match series

cos we won last time we played a series. thats how any sport usually goes. if u won last time u keep the trophy

LOL against new zealand he will get smashed around by any decent team.
Wickets against tailenders wow what a good bowler.
India are going to rip australia apart they are so much better then these duds

[Facepalm] Hilarious stuff.

Considering he hasn't come on in this series until the tail was in (due to Pattinson and co cleaning up the top order), you can only do with what's presented to you. Bowled well.

And if you're so good, post your MyCricket stats.

Well its widely known that chris woakes is better then any young australia player & he is not even rated in the top 5 youngest players for england in the under 21's....

When australia have an all rounder who averages 40 with bat and 24 with ball at 21 come back and tell me:)
Lyon doesn't just take out the tailenders he's come on early and got the odd top order batsmen like Smith, Taylor etc out as well.

Realistically he's the best thing that's happened to the Aussie Cricket team in ages when you look at the 8-9 duds that have tried, failed & tossed aside before him.

He's also taking wickets without being too costly & has a good strike rate what more can you expect from a 23 year old who's burst on the scene from virtually nowhere.

Yeah, but why schedule a two match series? That's ridiculous and leaves the draw way too possible. There's nothing like a 1-1 decider.
LOL new zealand only just beat zimbabwe good job australia beat a tough opponent 1-1

england got white washed in their one day series against india. they may have a stronger test side but there are many disciplines in cricket.

conditions play a huge factor aswell. in hobart the ball was moving sometimes and not at others very tough for batsman. and you cant say someone is 'widely known' or 'best aggressive bastman' when they havent even played 5 international matches and actualy no one in any other nation knows them.

True but england already said they do not train for the ODI matches only 20/20 & tests.

England won the 20/20 world cup remember lol
typical poms... giving up when things get too hard.

they got rolled a few summers back in aus when they were rebuilding and now the aussies are rebuilding and finding their best teams and structures and doing pretty well as they go i think

Why bother with ODI? its already confirmed if one format has to go its the ODI.....

Doesn't change the fact that englands team is at its peak right now and their youth is better then australias.

Winning the ODI series makes up for the biggest embarassing test series only last year?

Maybe england lost 5-0 back in 2006 but they didn't lose 3 matches by an innings & 100+ runs.

It will only be worse in england next time.

they may be at their peak now but it wont last forever.

ODI hasnt been 'confirmed' by anyone its just suspected that it may go.

we shall see what the scores are when it happens. speculation is pointless.

on a different note. what was the deal with NZ getting three different balls in the opening 12 overs. as the commentators said at the time the ground was wet so the ball was going to lose its shape and the third ball they ended up with moved alot more than the others. the umpires should say thats the ball you got so bowl with it unless it becomes an egg or splits open.
I'd take a 3-1 series loss over a 5-0 whitewash :P

@Huddo I noticed that as well the 3rd ball they got given was swinging heaps, the Aussies batting was shit but if the Kiwis kept one of the first 2 balls Bracewell wouldn't have got a 6fer.

exactly. should be an investigation as to why two balls only lasted a combined 12 overs. something wrong there.

the aussie middle order was terrible. all chasing deliveries that were too wide to drive on a wicket that is moving. we had another day to go so didnt need fast runs at all.
All that matters is regaining the Ashes. Younger players need to be put in now to make sure we have the right players with enough experience in Tests (not the other crap) so that we aren't embarrassed by the Poms again.

Or maybe we should just play a whole team of bowlers as they seem to be able to stick around longer than the so called specialist batsman.

Also just on Lyon he has been brilliant, who cares if he mainly gets tailenders, somebody has to do it as we've seen many times before where a tail getting a few cheap runs can cost you a game.
As crazy as it sounds, a loss is sometimes great for the rest of the summer.

It was a bit boring a few years ago when Australian pwnt everyone. The last 20 minutes of this test were nail biting, which is awesome. I prefer to watch that than the Gabba test.

Lyon looked shattered after the wicket & when being consoled by Pup in the after match presentation.

It reminded me of when Kaspa got knocked over in that Ashes match after being so close only worse because he's just a pup in international cricket.

I thought he batted well despite the conditions & pressure Warner probably could've handled it & proteced him better, taking the odd run at the start of the over leaving him majority of the balls wasnt smart.

Just dumb cricket from the top & middle order 2 days of play left is inexcusable, Haddin has to go getting dropped then playing the same shot was just dumb.

Let's hope this is the loss we needed because the Indians batsmen are firing on all cylinders.
I think the 3 H's and Ponting are gone or nearly gone, Hussey may stay on.

They say these guys deserve to go out on their own terms but how long can we put up with poor scores until they finally realise they're being selfish and move on.

Hussey will be safe, but he'll have to perform in the first two tests.

He always performs as soon as there's doubt over him. I'll back him for a hundo in the boxing day test.
Pretty surprised we got as close as we did in the end in a thrilling finish as Ben said, it might be the catalyst for a few needed changes.

Needing 42 runs with one wicket in hand I thought that was almost impossible even though I knew Lyon is better than a #11 batsman.

According to Pup Hughes isn't the only player under pressure which at least he's being honest, he just needs to realise the time to make a tough call is approaching for one of Punter or Huss.

Will be keen to see who's available for the boxing day test I hope Watson is fit first & foremost then Ryan Harris would be a good replacement for Starc.

Can't wait until Tim Paine gets his finger right Haddin is hopeless.

Thats the problem, these players are left in so long they are bojnd to get some runs sometime and than they stick around making crap scores for a while.

Also Watson apparently won't be able to bowl, just bat which means another all-rounder may have to play.
