We know England are a better side at the moment but you use any opportunity to totally rubbish Australia and than throw around some crazy predictions such as that nobody being a great 20/20 player.

Good to see Cowan in the test squad.

A bit strange that the players who get dropped are the young ones yet the older guys stay in and are performing just as bad, not a surprise though.

Those comparison things aren't always accurate though. Consider doing one of those between QLD and NSW for sheffield shield, and you'd find it pretty surprising that QLD are 2nd and NSW 5th.

It's a joke isn't it? three 35+ year olds averaging mid teens over the last few years & the first to get the chop are the younger guys who haven't had that long to prove themselves.

"No guarantees in player selection" my ass, the worst thing about this old boys club is Hussey & Ponting will probably score big against this crap India bowling attack renewing their gold passes for a few years longer... [Facepalm]

Christian deserves his call up hopefully he gets picked.

I think Hussey is the one who should stay for a bit longer but Ponting and Haddin need to go.

I think Paine being injured has kept Haddin around for a bit longer.

I look at it another way he's had a good 4-5 tests that saved his career after being really average with the bat for the better part of 3 years.

As for the keeper/batsman spot Matty Wade (who's stats are near identical to Paine's) should be our test keeper, too many current cricketers are living off their past achievements.

Out of Hussey & Ponting you'd probably keep Mr Cricket as he's more likely to score a ton but they are both past their use by date, surely they can't play on forever?

He'll probably get a go in an ODI or T20. We won't replace Haddin this Test series unless he gets injured or unbelievably sucks.

I missed a word in there and that was Hussey in the gully, these days Ponting mainly fields at second slip not first which is the captains spot.

Fielding at second slip is something Watson or other players can do but I guess the same could be said of Hussey in the gully as Warner's probably the best fielder in the side at the moment.

My point I was trying to make was no matter how good a players fielding is if they aren't scoring runs or taking wickets they're just taking up an important spot to develop someone who can.

The phrase may be catches win matches but so does scoring more runs than the opposition.

Hilf is a good one though at least he looks a threat at times.

Hopefully a full collapse happens with ponting making a ton.

People will suggest dropping him for another young hack who will make 10 runs.

The Indians are bowling Ponting back into form all in the slots for his signature shots everyone knows you don't bowl short to Ponting lol, spewing Warner got out looked likely to score big.

Still not sure we should've chose to bat first it's overcast today & supposed to be sunny the next 2 days when batting will be ideal, we don't want them batting for 2 days like they can.

I'm happy we chose to bat today, bit of movement but if the idians dug in, I'd hate to see the score by the end of play tm.

Happy ponting is making runs, still sceptical on huss. Glad hilfy is back in the team, he has been bowling like a demon in 20/20, getting movement and swing!

And yes, pity warner got out, but looks good for this series ^_^ c'mon punter and cowan!
