Nintendo fo Europe Confirms DSi XL

Nintendo of Europe has today confirmed the Nintendo DSi XL for the region, coming in the first quarter of 2010.

Known as the DS LL in Japan, the new Nintendo DSi has two huge 4.2" screens, increased battery life, a larger stylus and is generally a bigger unit. The revised console is aimed at the elderly and vision impaired.

It'll cost more than the current DSi (which in turn costs more than the DS Lite), but an exact price is yet to be confirmed for Europe. In Japan it costs the same as a Wii console, which in theory would price it at $399 in Australia; however, closer to $350 seems more logical after the failure of the PSPgo priced over $400.

No announcement has been made for an Australian release, but we expect to see the console around the same time as Europe.

Nintendo of Europe Confirms DSi XL Comments

Pretty early actually...just announced and they've already set a date that isn't far away.

I wonder if they will still sell the normal sized DSi's. One would think they would seeming they are still selling the DSLite.

=D
Man!!! I was right!! (yesterday I posted that the dsi LL in japan should be called the dsi XL)

Im assuming they will continue to sell both DSi (original) and the DS Lite.. The new DSi XL is really just aimed for the eldery, I doubt many youngians would pay the extra $50-$100 for the bigger screen and 3 games. But thats just my opionion..
The usual DSi is for (i)nfants to use. These big screen ones are for people with big ****s and poor eyesight.
Maybe this is the 'new' nintendo handheld we have been hearing rumors about, thank goodness I thought it was going to be a completely new thing.
If bigger screens is all its got then HAHA Nintendo is loosing its touch! But if this includes any other updates (Video Viewing, SD Card Menu, Better Camera, Better Graphics) then WOW!! So early~ If that happened I would Definitely buy it!

Definitely isn't the 'new' handheld. It's basically just a DSi for old people who hate tiny buttons.
You would think the games would look more pixalated being blown up so much!

I heard that old people are playing DS to keep their minds active (brain games) so this would be good for those that have poor eyesite and the thicker stylus for those arthritic hands.

Should call it the DSo "o" for old eyes....I might get one just in case

Okay, Okay answer this MyDS users.....

If the reason they didnt put a gba slot in the Dsi was because they said it was too bulky, why didnt they do it this time?

Could this be a hint of a DSi virtual console? or are Nintendo just stupid.

Kinda pissed me off....it seems illogical. unless a VC is getting made.
