No Zelda in 2008

We knew something big was missing Nintendo gamers, and that something was a Zelda title. 2008 marks the first year since 1999 that we've gone without a new installment in the Legend of Zelda series. Prior to 1998 Nintendo was a little more conservative, releasing just four games in 11 years, but after 10 games this decade 2008 is the first time we've missed out in the 21st century.

The Legend of Zelda Release Timeline

• 1998 - Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX
• 1999 – No releases
• 2000 – Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
• 2001 – Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons
• 2002 – Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (GBA) and Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures
• 2003 – Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time/Master Quest
• 2004 – Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures
• 2005 – Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
• 2006 – Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
• 2007 – Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass and Link's Crossbow Training

Does this confirm that we'll be seeing a new Zelda on the Wii/DS in 2009?

Maybe the new Zelda game will be so good it's taking more then a year to make.

I hope they release it on DS and Wii. Hey, Maybe that's what they're doing!

ive read from the zelda creators and miamoto (or how ever mr nintendo's name is spelt) that it can and usualy takes upto 4 years to make a zelda game, the scale of oot and tp. so i dont reckon it confirms anything just yet, but hopefully we get at least 1 this year.. as much of a fan as i am and would like to see new zelda titles on a monthly basis lol, i dont mind waiting how ever long as long as they keep the games coming with the greatness they all have contained in the past. as games that are rushed usualy suck hard.

hmmm... i forgot that Phantom Hourglass came out in 2007, not 2008. hopefully a new Zelda Game for teh Wii with Toony Link and a new DS game with TP Link

Far out oh yeah there wasn't any zelda games released in 2008.

I reckon the next console game would be like wind waker and phantom hourglass

and they should make a ds version of ocarina of time like they did with super mario 64

This is very sad but hopefully it means that they have been working on the best zelda game ever in 2008 and it will be released this year and it will be so great and everyone will forgive nintendo.

i aint forgiving anyone cause theres nothing to forgive.. so what if they dont make one every year. jsut means that their next one will be better than the last. OOT came out like 6 years after alttp.. the longer the wait the greater the game must be.
