Nintendo is simplifying its online profiles, by revealing that eShop accounts will be unified across the Wii U and 3DS.
Hopefully that means digital games will also be able to be downloaded on both platforms with a single purchase.
"A unified account system will be implemented later this year with the launch of the Wii U. Eventually this same account system will be made compatible with Nintendo 3DS systems," said Nintendo Customer Service Representative David Marshall, reports Nintendo World Report.
"At this time we have no additional details to offer and nothing to indicate how or if this will work outside the United States and Canada."
That has led to speculation that friends lists and your player account will also be able to be shared across both platforms in the future.
Should that happen, it would be light-years ahead of the Friends Codes debacle of the Wii.
